Sign up with your WhatsApp number, add your truck, add the corridors that truck runs. Loads matching that vehicle type and those lanes start reaching you, and you apply from the load itself. It is free, and most transporters are set up in about five minutes.

Finding a load costs you nothing.

No listing fee, no subscription, no commission off your rate, and no charge to see who posted the load. The exchange is free on the operator side and free on the shipper side.

Before you start

Have these in front of you. There is nothing to print and nothing to scan.

Step 1 — Sign up

Message Kweli on WhatsApp, or open the exchange at lx.kweli.co.za. Either way you land in the same short form in your phone browser. Over the 30 days to 1 September 2026, the median completed transporter sign-up took 5 min 20 s, from the first message to a profile with a truck on it.

It asks for your first name and surname, a username, whether you are an owner-driver or trading as a company, and the country and city you are based in. Your WhatsApp number is already filled in — it came in with you, and you cannot mistype it.

What it asksWhat it is for
WhatsApp numberYour identity on Kweli. One number, one account. It is how a shipper reaches you and how a load reaches you.
Name and usernameHow you appear to the other side of a deal. The username is yours alone on the platform.
Owner-driver or companyTick owner-driver if you run independently. No registered company is needed to use the exchange.
Country and cityYour base. It is the anchor for loads near me, which ranks open loads by the empty kilometres it takes to get to the pickup.
EmailOptional. Without it we can only reach you inside the app: if a shipper wants your truck while you are away from your phone, you hear about it when you next open Kweli. We send a six-digit code to check it works.

Step 2 — Add your truck

Pick the vehicle type from a list — tautliner, superlink, flatdeck, tipper, side-tipper, lowbed, tanker, reefer, container skeletal, logging, triaxle, crane — then give the horse registration and the country it is registered in. If you run more than one truck, add each one.

Vehicle type is one of the two things the exchange ranks on, which is why it is picked from a list rather than typed. A shipper asking for a tautliner sees tautliners first, and you are not sent hunting through freight your truck cannot carry.

Registration country matters for cross-border work: a truck registered in one country cannot legally run a domestic load inside another, and the exchange knows that so you do not find out at a weighbridge.

Step 3 — Add the corridors that truck runs

A corridor is a lane — Johannesburg to Durban, Durban to Lusaka, Beitbridge and up. On Kweli, corridors belong to the truck, not to your profile. Each vehicle carries its own lanes, so the superlink that runs cross-border and the rigid that never leaves Gauteng are not lumped together.

This is the step that turns matching on. Corridors are how a load finds your truck while you are driving instead of you scrolling a board looking for it. A truck with no corridors on it can browse everything, but it has told the exchange nothing to match against — so add at least one before you apply.

They do not fence you in. You can see every load on the board, and you can apply for one that is nowhere near your usual lanes.

Three panels, one per truck in the same fleet, each listing a different set of Southern African corridors that vehicle runs.
Corridors are recorded against the individual vehicle, so a superlink, a reefer and a rigid in one fleet each carry their own lanes.

Pick the lanes from the corridor list rather than typing them. Put the ones you run most at the top, and add a lane the day you start running it.

Step 4 — How loads reach you

Once a truck has a type and a lane, there are five ways work arrives. You do not have to use all five, and none of them costs anything.

  1. The board. Every open load, and you scroll it.
  2. Matched to your truck. The loads that fit the vehicle type and the corridors on that specific truck, put first.
  3. Loads near you, ranked by the empty kilometres it takes to reach the pickup from where you are based.
  4. Tell us once and we tell you. Say what you want and you get told when it appears, on WhatsApp or by email.
  5. The return leg. Loads that get the truck home loaded instead of empty.

Each of these is set out in full in how to find loads on Kweli.

Step 5 — Apply

Open the load, choose which of your trucks is taking it, and apply. Choosing the truck is not a formality: the application carries that vehicle’s type, its registration and its lanes to the shipper, so they are deciding about a real truck rather than about a company name.

If something stops an application, the screen says what is missing and gives you the fix on the spot rather than just refusing. Two you might meet early:

Your vehicle licence disc is a nudge, not a gate. Upload it and your score goes up; leave it and you can still apply.

What happens next

The shipper sees your application alongside the others and decides. What they see about you is factual and it comes from your account, not from a sales pitch: the truck and its registration, how many corridors that truck has declared, how many documents are on file for it, and when you were last active on the platform.

There is no badge saying Kweli has vetted you, because Kweli does not vet people. What there is instead is a record: once you have run work through the exchange, the next shipper sees how the last one went — whether you collected when you said you would, whether the delivery landed as agreed. That is the part a WhatsApp group cannot do. Ten years of arriving on time is worth nothing to a customer who has never used you, unless something carries it across. This carries it.

It runs in both directions. You see the same kind of record about the shipper before you commit a truck to their freight.

Questions people ask

What do I need to register as a transporter on Kweli?

A WhatsApp number, your name, a username, and your country and city. Then at least one truck with a vehicle type and a registration number, and at least one corridor on that truck. An email address is optional but it is the only way we can reach you when you are not in the app. You do not need a registered company — owner-drivers tick a box and carry on.

How do I start finding loads in South Africa?

Add the truck, add the lanes it runs, and the loads come to you: matched to the truck, ranked by empty kilometres from your base, or pushed to you on WhatsApp and email when one appears. You can also scroll the whole board. All of it is free.

Do I have to add a corridor?

To apply with a truck, yes — that truck needs at least one lane on it. It is not a formality: corridors are what the exchange matches loads against, and a truck with none has given it nothing to work with. You can add one from inside the load you are applying for, without losing your place.

Can I apply for a load that is not on my corridors?

Yes. Corridors rank what you are shown; they do not lock you out of the rest. Every open load is visible and you can apply for any of them.

I have five trucks. Do I set the corridors once?

You set them per truck, because that is where they are true. The reefer that runs Cape Town and the flatdeck that runs Beitbridge should not be matched to the same freight, and a shipper looking at your application sees the lanes of the truck you actually put forward.

What does it cost?

Nothing. No listing fee, no subscription, no commission on the rate. We do not charge for listings on either side of the exchange.

What do I need for cross-border loads?

A valid cross-border permit and goods-in-transit insurance on file, plus a truck registered for the work. Domestic loads need neither. If you apply for a cross-border load without them, the exchange tells you which one is missing rather than simply hiding the load from you.
